Artist Housing located in the 22@ district of Barcelona, Spain. The La Escocesa structure houses artists from around the world while providing them with a space to create their work. The function of space was determined by levels of public to private activities. Below ground, a studio is placed to allow the artist to have minimal distractions in a soundproof space while also providing a glass ceiling in the center of the complex to allow the public to see the artist in the act of creating art. Shared space is created throughout the building in an effort to eliminate the notion of single-unit ownership but rather ownership to a whole building. This ownership would hopefully provide a longer life span for such buildings and create a community in a social technological divided world.
